Focus on the Heart

Sat morning my motivation was to focus on keeping my heart rate below 180 at whatever costs. So I ran slower, I focused on my breathing and taking deeper breaths when running and the result was that this 2 mile run was quite a bit easier!

I was prety surprised actually as I just kept chugging along I was feeling no pain. Granted my mile times were slower, but I was able to sustain a constant pace without worrying about bonking. The second mile was faster than the first and I really tried to get right on 180 bpm. The last tenth of the run I was sprinting just to see the spike on the graph when I uploaded the exercise. :) I really felt the need to start learning how to pace now so when the longer milage's come into play I am not bonking during the run.

Overall
2 mile run
.2 mile walk - cooldown
   avg hr: 162 bpm
avg speed: 6.0 mph (max of 8.6 mph)

1st mile - 9:31 min
avg hr:162 (max of 174 bpm)
   avg speed:6.6 mph

2nd mile - 8:38 min
avg hr:178 (max of 185 bpm)
   avg speed:6.9 mph
