Back in the Pool

Well I not only got back in for the first time in a couple weeks, but I got into a Meter pool ... no more measuring my swims in yards! :) Well at least for now while I am at this Y, who knows where I will be in a few months.

I was very surprised to see how well the running has kept me in shape for swimming. My breathing was never taxed during the entire workout. My arms were burning before my breathing rate was ever accelerated. It was a great feeling!!!! I did not do a whole bunch the first day back in, 1200 meters to be precise. That is about 1300 yards or 3/4 of a mile. I just wanted my arms to get use to the water again, with the shoulder trouble I have had in the past I would rather ease into it, then destroy my shoudlers and be out for a few more weeks. So the workout went like this:

2 x 300 meters
2 x 200 meters
2 x 100 meters

That was it ... pretty basic, but effective. I am interested to see how mixing swimming back in now impacts running. I am hoping it gives me a couple more days of working my heart and brings my HR down when running, making running a lot less taxing! :)
